If you are a SECRET SQUADRON MEMBER of Captain Midnight, you will appreciate this find! A promotional T-Shirt in probably never worn condition (although I have this listed as used) with a fun graphic on the front of the T-Shirt. (Nothing on the back.)
This white T-Shirt is VERY THIN - VERY LIGHTWEIGHT -- made in the classic style of the T-Shirts from the 1980's and also that classic old-school 50% polyester and 50% cotton. No holes or stains.
The T-Shirt measures about 21 inches across the chest measured under the arms and from the back of the neck band to the bottom hem is 27 inches--a little short for today's T-Shirts. The neck tag says that the shirt is an extra large (XL), but that is for sure a size from years gone by... THIS T-Shirt would be comfortable for a size MEDIUM or TIGHT for a size large so PLEASE KNOW YOUR SIZE! This T-Shirt doesn't look like it was worn more than once if at all!
And I just learned...
In 1989 Ovaltine attempted to revive interest in Captain Midnight with three new premiums Mail-Away offer. A special watch, membership Patch and T-shirt were issued with promises of more to come, but it never happened. Most collectors missed the ad on the Ovaltine can/jar or because they no longer were buying or drinking Ovaltine and the kids did not know what or who this was. Finally the company that owned Ovaltine cut short the promotion and allowed the copyright and trademark on the old Captain to expire. These items are ones that reflects Ovaltine's failed attempt to bring back the past and in many cases are harder to find than some of the 1940's Mail-Away items.
